-
- No they don't. All the talk being done here is preaching to the converted.
- Go ask someonw whose just getting into the computer market (we *are*
- talking low-end here) if they know about Amigas, where you can get Amiga
- software, etc. You'll more than likely get a blank state or someone saying
- "Amigo? Isn't that a sport-utility vehicle?"
-
- :What they don't know, is how many would be willing to go into a store and
- :write a check for one should it happen to appear.
-
- Not very many I'd wager. Most of us Amigaphiles either already have a 1200
- or wouldn't touch one with a ten meter cattle prod. Although if they were
- cheap (what's this $600-$750 price?), I'd buy one to run poorly written
- software that won't use my graphics card.
-
- :The only way for that to be found out is for you and anyone else interested to
- :go into any store and ask for one... when enough requests have been made, the
- :people in the stores will perceive a demand, and may just order some.
-
- Before committing any funds to a purchase, I'd like to know exactly what
- the new price is. And the low-end market that AT seems to be aiming the
- Surfer at sure as heck isn't going to pre-order a computer that may or may
- not get here!
-
- ( PS Go into most electronics retailers and ask for an Amiga ... they'll say
- "What's that?" )
-
- :Without this perceived demand, none will ever be ordered.
- :I agree it would be nice to see some advertising done, but...
-
- ... without any advertising there will be no new Amiga owners. Commodore
- tried the word-of-mouth approach, and look where it got them!
